1,000 Hours is Green day's very first release. This 7" EP came out in 1989 on Lookout! records and has been in print till 2005 when Green day took it off the Lookout! catalogue. No rerelease untill the reissue of 39/Smooth LP on March 24, 2009. That LP on Reprise records comes with the 1,000 hours EP and the Slappy EP. Not available seperately.
Pressing info/ Differences: This record has been pressed many times and is very interesting for collectors not only because of the different colors of vinyl but also because of the sleeve. Early pressings came with a xeroxed wrap around sleeve (so did all early Lookout! releases). The first pressing is on black vinyl and comes with an insert on white paper.. There are different colors available with the same sleeve, red, blue, green, purple, yellow and clear. Around 500 copies of each color. Same early pressing on black vinyl comes with pink sleeve -the sleeves in those days were xeroxed and folded, they ran out of green paper so a few copies exist with a pink sleeve. 'Second pressing' has the same xeroxed sleeve, but the lyrics are printed on the inside, on black vinyl only. The moving of Lookout! records from Laytonville to Berkeley gave this EP a few other differences. By this time, all pressings were on black vinyl except one. The first pressing after the moving has the Lookout! adress on the back scribbled out and the new adress written next to it, on black vinyl and on red vinyl (again), with an insert on orange paper. This was changed after a while and replaced by a papered over new adress, black vinyl. Latest pressings no longer had xeroxed sleeves after that, a thick paper wallet sleeve was used untill 2003 when it ran out of print. Lookout! adress on those pressings are typed. All on black vinyl, no insert.
